Gold is much heavier than water, so check it usually gets stuck in the sand around bends. Or, sometimes it will get wedged in small holes or rocks.

After finding the perfect location, take a few handfuls of materials and put them in your gold pan. Put your pan in the water and rotate it in a circular motion. Continue with this process until at least half of the material is gone. Then, lift the pan out of the water and swirl it around until the water is gone. Dip the pan back in the water and pull it back out until all material is gone. I know it sounds like a lot of work, but once you find that big nugget, it will all be worth it!
